Too Cool for TikTok – Art & Digital Media Mashup
Grade 5-7

This course combines creative visual arts with the world of digital media, offering students an opportunity to explore both artistic expression and the exciting realm of content creation. Throughout this engaging three-week program, students will create original artwork using a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, and sculpture. They will then move on to the fun and hands-on part filming their creations and transforming their art into engaging, pretend TikTok-style videos. The emphasis will be on learning video production basics, from framing and lighting to simple editing techniques, all within the context of showcasing their artwork. In our mini production studio, students will learn how to present their art on camera, building essential digital media skills while expressing themselves creatively. The class will focus on the process rather than the pressure of sharing content publicly, allowing students to gain confidence in both their artistic abilities and their digital storytelling. By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio that includes their artwork as well as their own creative videos, offering a fun and innovative way to merge art with technology. This class will provide an exciting and engaging environment where students can explore their interests in both traditional art and digital media.
