Ready to embark on a magical journey combining literacy, art, and creativity? This course features read-aloud sessions using Disney and Pixar books, highlighting the themes in these stories and exploring how students can apply the lessons in everyday life. Learning will include interactive discussions, short video clips (under 10 minutes) for visual learning, and small group activities that foster comprehension through creative outlets.
Students will also explore concepts such as storytelling, sequencing of events, and interpreting the messages within Disney and Pixar stories. They will use creative expression through discussions and artistic activities and crafts, to reflect their understanding of the material.
On Thursdays and Fridays, students will enjoy watching a full movie based on one of the books we’ve been reading.
Please be advised that both sessions of this course will review the same content. Students will also need to be able to comprehend the material and express it through oral and written language.
Tech & Video Content: Monday- Wednesday (short video clips can range from 10 minutes or less each day)
Thursdays will begin with an in-class activity, followed by a movie based on a book we’ve read and discussed. Screen time will range from 20 to 30 minutes.
Fridays, we will continue to watch the movie from Thursday’s class. Screen time will range from 30-45 minutes depending on the length of the movie. Please note that alternative activities, such as drawing, coloring, or participating in a quiet read-aloud led by a staff member, are available.
