This class is designed for beginning chess players. Students will learn about the board, chess pieces and rules and objectives of the game. There will be daily opportunities for the students to play against their classmates and instructors, and there will be a class tournament the final week of the course.
This class will introduce the students to basic chess tactics and strategies. Main emphasis will be on the opening but important aspects of the middle game and end game will also be covered.
