Current Events & The Thinking Student
Grade 6-11

Students will explore international, national, state and local news in politics, culture, and science. Global hot spots, upcoming elections in the US, as well as state, county and local news along with science and technology news will be presented orally by students to students as well as turned into “Jeopardy” like fun on Fridays. Use of the NY Times, LA Times along with Wall Street Journal and Economist will be coupled with internet skills of students to explore what's hot and what's not hot. Students will have an opportunity to give oral presentations on hot topics as well as work together to summarize collectively what they have identified in 3 weeks that thinking students should know concerning the world today.
