This class will focus on the basics of chess for the beginning player. Students will learn about the pieces, their movements, and a few very basic strategies. There will be many opportunities for games against fellow players and chess puzzles to help students become better players. As their knowledge of the game improves they will explore more complex beginning tactics. Chess helps students develop their abilities at problem-solving, creative strategy, critical thinking, and concentration while having fun playing differferent variations of the game.
Screen time will be between 5-10 minutes per day as educational videos explore chess pieces, different openings, and introductory history to chess.
