A Novel Study: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo is a fabulous story of a small China rabbit who learns what love and loss truly are through each journey he ventures on. As he learns the story of each of the people who save him, Edward begins to understand the complex relationship between love and loss. This is a journey of self-discovery filled with themes of kindness and compassion. In this course we will work on a variety of important comprehension skills and build our vocabulary development. Comprehension skills include: Making inferences, describing character change, analyzing characters relationships, point of view, cause & effect, using descriptive language, summarizing, analyzing text quotes and symbolism.
